Background and Ethics Statement
My weekly column “The Book Worm” ran in the Bigfoot Valley News for nearly a year. Prior to that, I occasionally had book reviews published in a number of publications. In addition I included book reviews in my quarterly newsletter: “Finding Your Way with Herbs,” which was published for seven years from the mid 80’s to early 90’s. I have also had the honor of serving as a judge for the Ben Franklin Book Awards program.
I had great fun with the awards program, the column, and the book reviews over the years, and they were well received by the community. However, as we all know, the print information industry (as well as the entire economy) is going through a transition. For now, publications rarely budget the money to pay reviewers and columnists; which is why many authors, publishing companies, and reviewers have turned to “pay for service” book reviews. Unlike some, all my reviews are honest and unbiased. Keeping the reviews unbiased is the only way I can earn and keep my readers trust. Unbiased reviews should be the credo of all reviewers, even in this era of paid reviews.
For an example of what your review might look like if I find problems with content, search on: Arctic Dreams / Harvest McCampbell. For another example, this time where the problem was with the grammar and editing, search on: “Mama Bear Baby Bear” / Harvest McCampbell.

Fiction
Fictional work should promote positive ideals. Please refer to the list above and mention any of the topics which may be covered in your work when sending your query. You will find links to a few of my fiction reviews here. For more information please contact me by e-mail: harvest95546@yahoo.com Please use “Review Query” as your subject line, so I don’t mistake your e-mail for spam.
Children’s Titles
Children’s titles must be written with developmental stages and literacy acquisition or improvement in mind. I am a former preschool teacher, Headstart director, and family literacy specialist. If it gets my seal of approval—it’s good children’s literature. But don’t be overly intimidated. I love good children’s books, and great artwork sometimes over rides other concerns. You will find links to some of my children’s book reviews here (scroll down on the page to find links to a few more--there are a total of nine).
